New SBA and EMQ questions on Red Cell Antibodies in Pregnancy

• A 31 year old woman attends her community midwife for booking in her first pregnancy.  She has previously had a road traffic accident with open femoral fracture whilst on holiday abroad and received a two unit blood transfusion. Her booking bloods show a blood group of O with RhD negative and she is found to have positive anti-K antibodies with titre of 1:2.

For each scenario described below, choose the most appropriate management:

• A 43 year old woman attends her community midwife for booking in her first pregnancy.  She conceived this pregnancy by IVF with her partner’s sperm and donor egg.  Her past medical history includes a history of blood transfusion during open myomectomy.  Her booking bloods show a blood group of O with RhD negative and she is found to have anti-D antibodies with concentration of 0.3IU/mL. Fetal genotyping confirms that her fetus is predicted to be RhD positive.
